Motivated by her own experiences growing up, Amber E. Windsor, PhD has dedicated her career to helping children and adolescents navigate mental illness—those on the autism spectrum, dealing with crises, depression, anxiety, psychotic issues, and more—and prepare for a functional adulthood. Equipped with numerous certifications in grief, anxiety, stress management, and basic life support, she has excelled as a child life counselor with Inspira Health Network since 2019, providing one-on-one services with young patients and handling both regular psychiatric care and crisis situations.
Dr. Windsor understands the difficulties of what her patients are going through firsthand, having been diagnosed with bipolar and ADHD when she was a teenager. She was also an inpatient at a psychiatric unit, which changed her life; this is when she felt she needed to help children going through similar ordeals. She completed coursework in psychology at Kaplan University and eventually earned a Bachelor of Science in the subject from the University of Phoenix, followed by a master’s degree in general school counseling from Capella University, where she was named to the President’s List numerous times, in 2018. She subsequently began working on her PhD and ultimately earned the degree in advanced studies in human behavior in 2023. In the midst of earning her credentials, she has worked as a school counseling intern at Rosa International Middle School, a school counseling shadow at Estell Manor School, and an academic writing coach at Capella University.
A member of the American School Counselor Association, New Jersey School Counselor Association, and the American Psychological Association, Dr. Windsor strives to continue helping young people feel better about themselves. She takes great pride in the glowing letters she receives from her patients after they’ve been discharged from her care. Looking ahead, she dreams of running special programs for youth in her community and exercising her passion for one-on-one psychiatric sessions. She believes she stands as an example that, despite all the struggles and obstacles, anything one sets their mind to is possible.
Outside of her primary endeavors, Dr. Windsor is passionate about her role with the National Society of Leadership and Success and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and contributing through local charitable organizations.
